Taking Off for Amman

So my long awaited adventure to Amman, Jordan has finally arrived and I am currently in the Frankfurt airport writing my first blog entry…

Summer in Eugene ended abruptly about a week ago when I realized how little time I had to pack up my room, decide what I needed to bring for my seven month stay in Jordan, and read two assigned books for the SIT study abroad program I will be attending for part of my stay in Amman. It was an EXTREMELY chaotic week, and I still haven’t finished writing the paper about the two books, but I finally feel calm enough to just be excited for whatever is awaiting me after my next and final plane ride. I leave Frankfurt in about two hours and from here I have a four hour plane ride straight to Amman where I will finally land at 2am their time. I have no idea what to expect.

Most other students in the program will arrive tomorrow evening, but I found a plane ticket that was much cheaper for a day early and decided it was worth it. A coordinator from the study abroad program kindly decided to pick me up at the late hour I arrive so that I don’t have to haggardly find my way to a hotel where the group will be staying for orientation the first week. Most likely whoever this coordinator is will find me at the airport, taxi with me to the hotel, and leave me there to do whatever until the rest of the students arrive tomorrow evening.

This first blog entry isn’t too interesting, but that should be expected because the last 24+ hours have just been goodbyes and boring plane rides. I’ll write more once I actually have something of significance to blab about.

! ! ! !

p.s. if friends reading this have skype I just created an account under the name eliselouiseg that I will use for most communication to home! Wooooo!
